Cheri Box

Impulse buy from

Okay, maybe I have been thinking about this box for a long while now. It was out of stock within 24 hours of its original "in stock" on the website. I looked at it sadly and clicked the "notify me of restock" button. The email saying it was back happened to come last week on pay day so... I snatched it up before it could slip out of stock again.

Why did I want this box so badly? A few of reasons:
1. Being a Shinzi Katoh box it is exactly the same size as my Little Red Riding Hood box. This is my favorite size box!
2. Ponytailed Cheri and her cat remind me of me with my Baby.
4. I like the little french phrase. ("Tu peux venir quand tu veux.")

Alright, on to the features:

No bento belt needed for this one (like the Little Red box) because it clicks shut! YAY!

Movable divider on the top teir:

And, of course, it can all "collapse" into one tier when it is empty. Exciting, non?

I can hardly wait to use it!

I will try to take pictures later this week. Right now ALS and Mom have the camera with them on a couple college visits. (These pictures are all from the "crappy built in webcam" on my little netbook.)

Have an awesome lunch!

It's Beginning to Look a lot Like....

Fun fact: I rather hate summer! I am a Christmas child and I prefer winter, snow and ice.

So, to stay cheerful this summer I decided to keep the Christmas spirit alive for myself. I have a snowflake cookie cutter (and a moose too, which can double as raindeer because I have an imagination) and as of today I have some very silly mini-ice packs with a frosty theme:

Christmas Trees

There are two of each, they came from the Bento Obento Shop on ebay. I have ordered from them before, they ship very quickly and sent me a 'free gift' soy sauce container each time. Each ice pack is about an inch tall and a half inch wide. (Totally guessing on the measurements.) I cannot wait to try them out! They fit nicely in all my boxes.

Veggie Sushi Bentos

Sorry for the posting void, school has been eating me alive too much to:
a) try too many new/exciting things with lunches
b) remember to take pictures of the boxes before someone consumes them!

(Amazing Little Sister has her own bento box now too! It is an URARA Dragonfly box, very cool looking. I have an URARA Rabbit box to match! She is a much better cook than I am so I MAY see if I can get pictures of her bentos to share.)

THESE bentos are in boxes I found at the Dollar Tree! I found them to be the PERFECT size for sushi rolls. Last week I picked up a sushi mat and some more tiny utensils at Lampson and Goodnow and have been finding sushi is pretty easy to make!

These boxes are for me and my friend Hanna to have at school tomorrow.

This is acutally my SECOND time making the cucumber avacado rolls. The came out just as squished looking last time too. I think it is the way I sliced the cucumber (shavings using a peeler) that leaves it without a round shape. The sweet potato rolls came out in the right shape though! I did have to squish them slightly to make them fit better in the box.

I do not know what KIND of sweet potato I used, but I know it is not the usual kind. It is more yellow than orange, but it tastes good anyway! I finished the boxes off with carrot sticks because they were lacking in warm colors.

I also made one of my "usual" boxes tonight for my mother:

She REALLY likes the apple slices. The cheese is in heart shapes. I used the leftover avacado from the rolls in her salad per her request and also added some crasins. She has been taking a bento to work nearly every day! Apparently they are a hit with people at both of her workplaces and everyone wants to know more about them.

I will try to update at least once a week from now on!

Manly Bento = Too Manly for BCat?

Alright, next time I should be warned that bigger boxes means more food and that more food means more thinking. Teenage Mutant Little Brother is going to have to deal with an over sized classic grape bento for his Monday lunch, just trying to pull that together made my brain want to explode. Joneko is going to send me recipes to try for the next time.

No pictures because I forgot about them.

Manly Bento Box

New box came in the mail today! I ordered this for making bigger lunches for teenage little brother. (And sometimes for picnics with friends.)

I got it from for about $12 and $4.99 shipping. It shipped very quickly, I was surprised.

Little brother says this box is "really nice" too, excellent! I will be making his Monday lunch tomorrow night and taking pictures.

Please excuse the bored look on my face, I have been rather sleep deprived this week.
